The ASM Global Advantage ensures continuity and stability in the operation of its venues, by leveraging the proven track record, expertise, reputation, and the professionalism of the combined workforce of its 350 venues across the globe.
The true value of that ASM Global Advantage was on show when ASM Global Asia Pacific (APAC) venues provided essential staff to assist during the very busy opening period of the Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre in New Zealand.
General Manager of the Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, Ross Steele put out an urgent call to the APAC group of venues for assistance in their Audio Visual/Technical area as they struggled with industry wide staff shortages.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC), CEO Bob O’Keeffe AM along with General Manager Kym Guesdon and Brisbane Entertainment Centre (BEC) General Manager, Trish McNamara answered the call within hours.
Days later BCEC’s Audio Visual Systems Manager, Dion Amato and BEC’s Technical Coordinator Graham Ironside boarded planes for Christchurch, New Zealand for short term engagements to help out the Te Pae Christchurch Team.
Chairman and CEO of ASM Global APAC said, Harvey Lister AM, “This is one of the strengths of the ASM Global Family of Venues. When one of our venues requires assistance, there is the opportunity to send experienced professionals from other venues. These opportunities are highly regarded by ASM Global employees and provide a different perspective from their everyday roles in their home venues, but it can also inspire them to think outside the square and the broader experience can be of great actual benefit to their long-term career growth.”
Te Pae Christchurch’s Ross Steele said, to have the support of the global network was reassuring. “In this current environment it is an enormous help and also heartening to have the backing of the global team to assist, not only with resourcing issues, but to discuss the challenges that currently affect us all, and sharing ideas to find resolutions to the problem.” Steele said Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre continues to actively seek out the very best professionals for available positions.
BCEC General Manager, Kym Guesdon said Dion’s wealth of experience, particularly in the technical commissioning of BCEC on Grey Street, would be of great assistance to the Te Pae Christchurch team in helping them expand upon the existing systems and processes as their Centre looks forward to increased business levels in the coming months.
In the words of the fly-in experts – ‘We were happy to help out our New Zealand cousins on the other side of the Tasman Sea or across the ditch as it is colloquially known in Australia and New Zealand.
ASM Global team members have a strong knowledge base and long-term experience that allows them to build on the consistency of the skills and strengthen business practices across the APAC & Gulf Region when needed.
